TMC Rift Reaches Speaker's Office, Decision Awaited on Abhishek Banerjee

Описание: The internal power struggle within the Trinamool Congress has now reached the office of the Lok Sabha Speaker. According to sources, the Lok Sabha Secretariat informed TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee that he could appear before the Speaker and present his case by 4 PM on Monday. The communication was reportedly sent via email on Sunday.

However, TMC leader Kirti Azad informed the Secretariat that Banerjee had been undergoing questioning by the Enforcement Directorate since 11 AM and therefore did not have access to his email. Azad said the Speaker's Office contacted him around 2:10 PM regarding a possible meeting later that day.

Following the communication, Kirti Azad emailed the Secretariat and subsequently met the Speaker around 3:30 PM to present the party's position. Abhishek Banerjee returned home close to midnight after nearly 11 hours of questioning by the ED. With submissions from both rival TMC factions now heard, the Speaker is expected to take a decision in the matter soon, adding another twist to the ongoing political bbattle within the party.
