Elvis Costello once stated the opinion that only the success of this co-write with Macca prevented "Spike" from ending up as one of the most obscure albums of his career. In fact "Veronica" is one of the songs that stick out with a pretty commercial sounding arrangement from others that are sounding less easily accessible.
This rather speedy version was recorded on July 10, 1991, when Elvis and 'The Rude 5' appeared at the annual Montreux Jazz Festival and to me it looks a bit like Elvis himself was somewhat irritated by the performance's speed . . . enjoy anyway!
