Fitra or Fitra is an obligatory charity that is given before the Eid al-Fitr prayer at the end of the month of Ramadan. It is an important provision of Islam, which is mainly provided to help the poor and needy people. The purpose of collecting fetra is to enable financially poor people of the society to celebrate Eid.
1. Paying Fatra is obligatory for every adult Muslim.
2. The time of payment of fetra is fixed until the morning of Eid-ul-Fitr.
3. The amount of fetra is determined based on the price of local food items.
4. Usually one sa' (about 2.5 kg) of foodstuff or its equivalent has to be paid.
5. Fatra has to be paid for himself and his dependents.
6. People who are eligible to receive Fetra are poor, needy and socially vulnerable people.
7. Fatra is given before the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers, so that the poor can also participate in the Eid celebrations.
