This is a very rare Dave Bunker PBC Telecaster style guitar. I am unsure of the exact age, but what information that I can find it appears to be from the 90's. It has Bill Lawrence K-200 pickups which were made in the 90's.
This is a great opportunity to own a piece of guitar history. Dave Bunker was a craftsman and he has many guitar patents. This guitar has his patented tension free neck. Here’s the design in a nutshell, instead of using a truss rod, it uses a steel bar that holds all the string tension, instead of the wood of the neck. It’s adjusted by a screw on the neck heel, and pivots against a set screw that’s inside the neck at the 16th fret. I have included a picture of an Ibanez neck that used this design. In the 80's Ibanez licensed this technology from Dave Bunker and they were making guitars with his tension free neck design.
This is an awesome guitar and I really think you will love playing a guitar that was built by a true craftsman. The frets and fretboard have been polished and it has recently been setup and it plays like butter, From what I can tell it also has a Bunker designed bridge. This is an awesome bridge and along with the design of the neck the guitar has a lot of sustain. The neck is super straight since the tension is on the steel rod instead of the neck wood. I am a guitar nerd, so technology like this fascinates me. Please go to Youtube and search for "Bunker Guitars Tension Free Neck" to see Dave take about this awesome neck design,
Don't let these Bill Lawrence Keystone K-200 pickups fool you. They are not wimpy single coils pickups. The bridge pickup is 16.7 k and the neck it 17k. They almost have a P90 feel to them so they are great pickups if you like a harder rock tone. You can ride the volume if you want a cleaner tone. They are very quiet for single coil pickups. Bill Lawrence was an awesome pickup maker. He died in 2013. Before he started designing his own pickups, he was a consultant for Gibson and Fender, so he knew how to make awesome pickups.
