The Madrasa and Khanqah of Sultan Barquq is a stunning Mamluk-era complex in Islamic Cairo, Egypt.
Built in 1384-1386 CE (786-788 AH), it represents one of the finest examples of Mamluk architecture and served dual religious purposes as both an Islamic school (madrasa) and a Sufi lodge (khanqah).
Consists of:
Central courtyard with four iwans (vaulted halls), one for each Sunni school of jurisprudence.
Khanqah section for Sufi rituals and residence.
Mausoleum of Sultan Barquq and his daughter.
