Statues of Dwight Clark and Joe Montana unveiled outside Levi's Stadium

Описание: SANTA CLARA — The most famous moment in 49ers history is now immortalized outside Levi's Stadium.

On Sunday morning, four hours before the 49ers take on the Los Angeles Rams, the 49ers unveiled statues of Dwight Clark and Joe Montana, in an exact depicting of "The Catch." The statues, weighing 350 pounds apiece, were placed exactly 23 yards apart, just as they were during the catch that propelled the 49ers to Super Bowl XVI, which they won, launching the birth of a dynasty.

A red carpet connected the two statues. About 200 people attended the half-hour long event. That included both the Clark and Montana families, as well as 49ers legends such as Montana, Jerry Rice, Ronnie Lott, Keena Turner, Terrell Owens, and more.

49ers broadcaster Ted Robinson emceed the event. After his opening comments concluded, 49ers CEO Jed York spoke, dubbing Montana as the greatest quarterback of all-time and The Catch as arguably the greatest play in NFL history. Dwight's widow, Kelly Clark, spoke for a couple minutes and fought back tears. Jeff Clark, Dwight's brother, also spoke. Then Robinson took the microphone, introducing The Catch as the "seminal moment of the franchise."

Clark's sculpture was unveiled, across from Montana's, where they will remain, reminding past and future generations of the play synonymous with the 49ers' dynasty.
