Heavy Rain Lashes Mumbai, IMD Issues Orange Alert; Red Alert for Raigad

Описание: Mumbai witnessed intense heavy rainfall today , triggering widespread waterlogging, traffic gridlock, and train service disruptions across the city.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a orange alert for Mumbai and warned of continued downpours over the weekend.
Key areas such as Andheri, Sion, and Dadar reported severe waterlogging, forcing the temporary closure of subways and the slowing or suspension of local train services on multiple lines.
The IMD noted that the city recorded over 100 mm of rainfall within a few hours, with temperatures hovering around 25°C to 26.6°C and high humidity.
The weather department also issued a red alert for Raigad, Ratnagiri, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall in a few places.
Municipal and emergency response teams are actively working to clear clogged drains and manage the overflow, but the intensity of the rainfall has overwhelmed parts of Mumbai's drainage infrastructure.
Citizens are advised to monitor local alerts, avoid low-lying areas, and plan travel with caution.
