Bausatzbesprechung: Italeri "schwerer Panzerspähwagen (Fu) Sd.Kfz. 232 6-Rad" im Maßstab 1/35

Italeri hat ja nicht unbedingt den besten Ruf in der Modellbaugemeinde, und vielleicht auch zu recht, aber immerhin bietet dieser Hersteller so manches Fahrzeug als Bausatz an, dass man woanders nicht bekommt. Da heißt es Zähne zusammenbeißen und sich damit arrangieren, wer unbedingt einen schweren Panzerspähwagen (Fu) Sd. Kfz. 232 6-Rad bauen möchte, der kommt an diesem Bausatz nicht vorbei!
Die Bausatzform stammt ursprünglich aus dem Jahr 2004 und kehrt nun nach einigen Jahren Pause auf den Markt zurück. Das Niveau ist natürlich nicht mit den Neuerscheinungen anderer Hersteller der letzten Jahre vergleichbar, was wir hier bekommen ist eher grob und einfach - man fühlt sich in das Jahr 1970 oder 1980 zurückversetzt. Dennoch ist der Bausatz eine gute Grundlage für einige gezielte Verbesserungen, wodurch man das Modell in ein durchaus vorzeigbares Stück verwandeln kann.
Schwachpunkte sind meiner Meinung nach die Werkzeughalterungen und die weichen Details an der Panzerung des Kühlergrills. Auch über das Geschützrohr und die Reifen kann man nachdenken, deren Überarbeitung oder Austausch ist aber nicht unbedingt ein Muss.
Da ich den Bausatz schon im Jahr 2014 einmal gebaut habe, möchte ich auch auf eine tendenziell schlechte Passug der Heckplatte hinweisen. Damit hatte ich damals massive Probleme. Der Bausatz braucht eben etwas mehr Liebe als andere!
Zumindest ist der Preis für diese Wiederauflage zu verkraften, hierzulande muss man ungefähr mit 24€ Neupreis rechnen. Das halte ich für angemessen.

Italeri has probably not the best reputation in the hobby scene, maybe that is even justified, but this brand offers a couple of kits of vehicles, which can´t be found anywhere else. So you have to soldier through it and make the arrangements, if you really want to build a schwerer Panzerspähwagen (Fu) Sd. Kfz. 232 6 Rad, since there is no other choice for you but this kit!
The tool of this kit originates in the year 2004 and makes a return on the market after a break of a few years. The level of detail can not be compared to the recent releases of other brands, what you get here is a bit crude and simple - it feels like a time travel back to the 1970s or 1980s. However, the kit is a good basis for selective improvements, which can turn the kit into a pretty neat model.
The weak points are the tool clamps and the soft details around the armored cover of the radiator. The gun barrel and the tires can be taken into consideration as well, reworking or replacing them is probably not a must though.
Since i have built this kit back in the year 2014 already i want to point at the pretty bad fit of the rear armor plate as well. This caused me massive issues. The kit requires certainly more love than others!
At least the price tag for this reissue is not bad, in my country it costs about 24€ new. I think that is acceptable.

The first of the German armoured cars, the Sd.Kfz. 231 was based on modified Daimler-Benz, Büssing or Magirus 6x4 truck chassis. The 231 was armed with a 2 cm KwK 30 L/55 autocannon, and a Maschinengewehr 13 machine gun. It had a second driver's position in the rear so that the vehicle could be driven either forwards or backwards with relative ease. The 231 was introduced into service in 1932 and began to be replaced in 1937 when the German Army switched production to 8-wheeled armoured cars instead of 6-wheeled. Despite being replaced, they were used by Aufklärungs ('reconnaissance') units during the Invasion of Poland, the Battle of France, and the invasion of the USSR. They were withdrawn afterwards for use in internal security and training. The crew consisted of a commander, gunner, driver, and a radio operator/rear driver.
The 232 carried a Fu.Ger.11 SE 100 medium-range and a Fu.Spr.Ger.A short-range radio. This model was very distinctive because of the heavy "bedspring" antenna over most of the hull. This antenna was supported by two insulated vertical connecting tubes at the back corners and an inverted U-shape tube construction on the turret sides with a central joint that allowed the turret its full 360° traverse.
