Sleepy LaBeef, one of the last dinosaurs of Rock 'n' Roll. A great voice, a great performer and still alive, performing and kicking. The man is 75, jumps onto an airliner and flies to Holland for just a weekend (one show). One of the best Rock 'n' Roll festivals in Holland: WESTERHOVEN ROCKS! I played there 5 times with 3 bands (Ducktail, The Rollators and Runaway Beat). The location is great, the organization is perfect and the atmosphere is awesome. They have the top of rock 'n' roll lined up like Matchbox, Crazy Cavan, The Jets and, last but not least, SLEEPY LABEEF. Johan van Meurs, organization, spend 2.5 years to get the man on stage, and he succeeded! It was a great honor to perform with SLEEPY. I picked him up at the hotel, we drove to the venue and spend some time together with his wife and the band. We had a great evening. Didn't receive a setlist, didn't have a decent repetition, so we decided not to prepare at all.
I went on stage and still did not know what songs he would play. SLEEPY: "Get on the stage and Rock 'n' Roll". It's an understatement!
