Bazaruto Part II: Challenges in East Africa

Описание: The Badco fishing team is now nine days into their month long trip in Bazaruto, Mozambique. The first week of fishing was better than expected with several fish coming in above the 500 pound mark. Including a 900+ pounder the team released just a handful of days into the trip.

The fishing team continues to pick away at Marlin over the next several days, with a handful of quality models coming to the boat. In an attempt to gather more information about the Black Marlin of Bazaruto, the team has partnered up with local biologists and sponsored 5 satellite tags to deploy on large females. After closer inspection, the team realizes the tags aren’t correctly programmed, and returns them to be reprogrammed.

A few days of poor weather bring in a large body of green water, dramatically impacting the local fishery. In an attempt to find clean water, Anthony and Michael take the Badco Helicopter to circumnavigate the island. Very little blue water remains around the small tropical island, making fishing difficult.

To break things up the team has a large party on the island, giving tours to locals of the 175’ Badco Support mothership.

The following week of fishing is a bit slow, and the team brings on local fisherman Duarte Rato. An individual who has helped the fishing team immensely over their short stay in Bazaruto.

With the Satellite tags returned and reprogrammed, the group is able to successfully tag two female black Marlin before things take a turn for the worse…
