Emilio Delgado was Honored at a Hispanic Heritage Celebration hosted by New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, who proclaimed October 15, 2019 as Emilio Delgado Day! The celebration was held at Gracie Mansion, the mayor's official residence, with 1000 people in attendance. Emilio Delgado is an actor based in New York City, known to millions for his portrayal of 'Luis' on the television show Sesame Street, from 1972 through 2016. Emilio's positive portrayal of a Mexican American in television film and theater began professionally in 1968 and he is credited for helping to break barriers for others that followed.
