You need the best equipment and high fishing skill level 10. Dragon's Beard line, Burrower: Abyss Worm lure, Death Spin rod, and Llymlaen reel. Everything can be bought except the reel which is obtained from Totomostro in Altissia.

This is the second hardest fishing challenge -- the hardest is found in a Tour with Gladio. The reward for this is the tranquility rod, which you will need. Turn on your controller vibration if you don't have it on, it will help you know when to stop reeling. Also pay attention to the camera shifts, as that tells you which direction the fish is heading.
