I was in Huddersfield Town Centre today quite early thanks to Transpennine Express and their no trains until the 20th of June 2025 ! So I took the opportunity to have a walk around my home town of many years before I escaped 12 years ago ! I as always was shocked to see the decline of the Town ! Once a world leader in textiles,engineering and brick works which is now so sadly a shadow of its former self like so many other Northern Towns and no doubt so many towns throughout the country which have been allowed to fall in to nothingness !
Very sad indeed - The Town once had so many independent stores and shops which have long since gone ! much of it has been taken over by the University ! there is very little left here in the Town unless you want a Meal a takeaway or a drink ! So many shops that are shut and up for rent !
Huddersfield is my birthplace and seriously I do not recognise it anymore ! But we can't stand in the way of development can we ?
I love my Town and always will but I am so glad I no longer live there !!
