Our staff will guide you through skin-to-skin contact and rooming-in with your baby 24-hours a day throughout your hospital stay.

Our postpartum recovery suites feature private rooms with queen-sized beds, foldout couches for loved ones, and a culture of family-centered maternity care to make your stay comfortable and help you feel supported.

You have choices in your labor experience. UMC offers state-of-the-art fetal monitoring including wireless technology for walking during labor. In-house anesthesia means epidurals are available 24/7. So no matter what type of pain management plan you anticipate, our staff is dedicated to helping you achieve your vision.

With rooming in, all care for you and your baby is done in the comfort and convenience of your room. Your newborn is able to remain at your side during visiting hours, routine check-ups, nursing care, and shift changes and you are able to be involved first-hand for all medical decisions involving your baby.

We have specially certified lactation educators as well as doulas who can give one-on-one support to laboring moms.  The physical and emotional care provided by our doulas is shown to result in shorter labor, less need for pain medication, and fewer complications.  Doulas are available free of charge for anyone who pre-schedules and registers to give birth in our Family Birth Center.  Contact our FBC Education Department to schedule a doula consult today!

UMC has a level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for newborn babies who need intensive medical attention. The NICU combines technology and trained healthcare professionals to provide specialized care for our patients in need. 99 percent of babies leave the NICU which puts us in the top 5 percent of the nation.
