Alauddin Khilji may have captured Chittorgarh, but history remembers him differently. After the Jauhar of Rani Padmavati, Khilji’s dream remained unfulfilled. He expanded his empire to Gujarat, Malwa, and the South with the help of Malik Kafur, but in the end, illness, suspicion, and loneliness consumed him. In 1316, Khilji died in Delhi — leaving behind a legacy of bloodshed and incomplete desires.
