R-Type (Arcade) - 1 credit clear (1CC, no commentary)

Описание: After 1cc'ing the Master System version of R-Type, I’m now ready to tackle the arcade version! As expected, this version is significantly harder than the Master System one, which is slower-paced, to the point where finishing the SMS version doesn’t provide much of an advantage. Most sections of the game, especially the later ones, require memorization, but that’s not the biggest challenge. If I had to identify one major struggle, it would be the precise movements needed to avoid crashing into walls. Many sections require you to navigate through tight spaces filled with hazards above and below, making it tough to execute the exact movements needed, even with a good directional pad. Another challenge is the stage 5 boss, the "satellite" surrounded by rocks. It has some unpredictable behavior that makes it difficult to defeat consistently. If it starts rushing toward you, it becomes even harder to beat!

Additionally, this game is built around the concept of completing it with just one life. If you die after the first checkpoint of stage 4, recovering can be quite difficult, though it's not impossible. Even if you manage to make a comeback, there’s a major issue: the scarcity of shield items. The up and down shields are vital for defeating the last boss smoothly; without them, you're likely to struggle. After the second checkpoint in stage 4, there’s only one shield available in stage 7, and if you’re fortunate, you might find an extra one during the stage 7 boss fight. You really need to pray to the RNR!

In contrast, recovery is easier in the SMS version. In that version, I can die in the last stage (stage 8) and still find a way to recover and beat the game. It's challenging, but it's definitely doable there, which is not the case with the arcade version. However, I like the soundtrack in the SMS version better! It is tuned to a lower key that makes it more atmospheric.

Here it is: memorization, precision, and managing the Force (the glowing orange item attached to your spacecraft) while maintaining tight gameplay. This is R-Type.
