On 9 December 2021, Andrea Orcel, Chief Executive Officer of UniCredit, presented UniCredit's new strategic plan with this video. Key objectives of the plan include: refocusing the geographical areas where the bank is present and developing customer franchise, ensuring growth from both existing and new customers.
UniCredit's best products will be developed in-house, through close collaboration with key suppliers. It will change its business model to a capital-efficient business, with cost efficiencies aimed at financing investments and providing operating leverage.
In addition, Unicredit intends to achieve economies of scale, with reduced costs and increased efficiency, by leveraging the network of the group's 13 banks, enabling regions to manage their own business within a clear framework of risk and conduct.
The bank's technology will be transformed through a new operating model that moves core competencies in-house, introducing a new way of working focusing on customers, common platforms and the development of common modular products.
Everything will be done under the banner of sustainability, setting a concrete example with the group's activities and helping customers towards a just and sustainable transition, to contribute to a better society.
UniCredit aims to achieve a RoTE of ~10% and a sustainable annual distribution of at least 16 billion between 2021 and 2024.
These are the foundations to achieve the long-term goals after 2024.
Because 2024 is the starting point of a longer journey.

Tra gli obiettivi principali del piano, rifocalizzare le aree geografiche in cui è presente la banca e sviluppare la rete dei clienti, assicurando una crescita sia dei clienti esistenti, sia di quelli nuovi.
I migliori prodotti UniCredit saranno sviluppati internamente, attraverso una stretta collaborazione con i principali fornitori. Cambierà il modello di business, passando ad un business a basso assorbimento di capitale, con un'efficienza dei costi finalizzata a finanziare gli investimenti e a fornire una leva operativa.
Inoltre Unicredit intende ottenere delle economie di scala, con riduzione dei costi e aumento dell'efficienza, sfruttando la rete delle 13 banche del Gruppo, consentendo alle regioni di gestire la propria attività all'interno di un quadro chiaro di rischio e di condotta.
Verrà trasformata la tecnologia digitale della banca grazie ad un nuovo modello operativo che trasferisce le competenze principali all'interno dell'azienda, introducendo un nuovo modo di lavorare incentrato sui clienti, su piattaforme comuni e sullo sviluppo di prodotti modulari comuni.
Tutto verrà svolto all’insegna della sostenibilità, dando l'esempio concreto con le attività del Gruppo e aiutando i clienti verso una transizione giusta e sostenibile, per contribuire ad una società migliore. UniCredit punta a raggiungere un RoTE di ~10% e una distribuzione agli azionisti di almeno 16 miliardi tra il 2021 e il 2024.
Queste sono le basi per realizzare gli obiettivi a lungo termine dopo il 2024.
