Jesus asked a simple yet powerful question: “Who do you say I am?”. It’s a question every one of us must answer, because what we believe about Jesus shapes the way we live. Jesus is the suffering servant and the true Messiah who came in humility to deal with the deepest problem of the human heart, which is sin.
So often, we carry heavy burdens of guilt, fear, pressure and the need to prove ourselves. We live as though we must earn God’s approval, but God has already paid the price. Even though we are all born into sin and fall short, Jesus willingly took our place, carried God’s wrath and suffered so that we could receive forgiveness, joy and eternal life. He laid aside His heavenly crown and wore a crown of thorns, so we could experience freedom and restoration.
Life will still bring challenges, but we no longer walk without hope. We are called to hold tightly to the truth that Jesus died and rose again, remember how much we have been forgiven and respond with repentance, faith and obedience.
