The Importance of Patience in the Recovery Process of an Injury

With today's new video, I'm talking about why it's important to have patience when it comes to the recovery process of an injury. Patience is referred to as the ability to accept or tolerate a delay without getting angry or upset. Often times when people are dealing with an injury, everyone wants to jump to quick a fix, because they are becoming impatient with the recovery process. However, doing so may lead to more problems, more pain and a longer recovery time, which is not something that someone wants to deal with or go through. For example, in my case it took me about a year and a half to 2 years to really get to the point were I was pain free. However, it took me an additional year to year and a half to return to playing hockey consistently and heavy deadlifting. Now, I could of rushed back into those activities after immediately making a recovery, but I didn't, because I wasn't comfortable yet and I wanted to take the time better prepare myself (e.g., build a better strength foundation for my body) and learn more about injury preventing and performance. After I took the time to learn more and better prepare myself by building a stronger foundation, I was able to get back to hockey and deadlifitng safely and comfortably. The point of today's video is to explain why patience is important and why it's not a good idea to rush things during recovery.
