As we await the highly anticipated release of GTA 6 on May 26th, let’s take a trip back in time to the very first Grand Theft Auto, released in 1997.

Developed by the Scottish studio DMA Design, which later became Rockstar North, GTA 1 was originally conceived as a simple cops-and-robbers racing game called Race’n’Chase. But the team decided to add an open world and criminal missions, creating a completely new concept that changed video game history forever.
Despite its pixelated graphics and top-down view, GTA 1 already offered an impressive sense of freedom for its time, laying the foundation for one of the most iconic franchises in gaming.
Here at CLD GROUP, we’re proud to have distributed this legendary series for so many years. Seeing how it has evolved and being part of its success is truly an honour for us – especially with GTA 6 looking set to become another masterpiece.
