Balloon mollies are livebearers. Means they will give birth to 20-25 live babies at a time. They have a really short life span. Female mollies will give birth to fry every 3-5 weeks. Because male molly will constantly chase females. The best is to keep a ratio of one male to tree female fish.
Eg;- Male : Female
1 : 3
2 : 6
3 : 9, as your wish!
You should never keep a single female with multiple males. Otherwise female molly haven't enough time to rest from the male and it will be stressed to female fish. When female balloon molly is about to give birth, she will usually hide in a corner of the tank between plants or polythene bags. Female balloon molly can labor from a few hours to up to one day.
