Here’s a wonderful, chunky version of a hornpipe which I learnt from my friend and colleague, Sophy Ball, who in turn had it from her sister, Emily Stephenson. It was collected by Cecil Sharp from the playing of Charles Baldwin, a fiddle player from the Forest of Dean who played for the Clifford’s Mesne morris and who was the father of another great English fiddler, Stephen Baldwin.
