Ali ascended the Muziekgieterij Stage at Best Kept Secret just as the sun broke through in full force. The triumvirate from Jakarta plays in an almost hypocritical manner. However, their music made us warm. Ali merges soul and funk from the 70s with Eastern influences. Their sound is slightly mysterious and very danceable at the same time.
Ali formed in 2021 and released the album 'Malaka' two years later. This immediately made the Indonesians very successful. They were on our stage just after the release of their debut album.
After the session, Ludo Diels from Heaven Magazine spoke with Arswandaru Cahyo about the origins of Ali, traveling and European bands such as Yin Yin and Altın Gün.
