An anxious 36 hours lies ahead as conditions worsen in Victoria's east.
Two deaths have been confirmed and there are grave fears for the safety of 28 missing people.
Authorities have declared a state of disaster, warning the current bushfires could merge to become one enormous fire.
Tens of thousands of people have obeyed orders to evacuate their homes and holiday spots.
For those who've been trapped in the fire-ravaged coastal town of Mallacoota, the Navy has come to the rescue.
