Overriding the ToEquals function is really powerful as you can create the function to use in multiple places and its all within the class, so as you build out more features & fields you can update the class and it won't break any references to the function you have made previously.

Hardcoding the check will ensure your code is not maintainable as you'll have lots of locations you'll need to change to be able to keep your code functioning correctly. Using ToEquals gives you maximum flexbility in producing error free code!
