When Baby Strength Meets Ice and a Dismount Gone Wrong

The Dudley Orangutans enjoyed a cool summer treat — a huge slab of ice filled with frozen fruit and vegetables. Sprout arrives at the window with a chunk already broken off and starts smashing it on the sill, determined to get to the fruity bits inside, which the apes love the most.
The babies also had some ice to enjoy. Jim came over to the window, but filming was tricky — the glass had watermarks at the bottom from all the ice smashing and my camcorder sensor broke just as I started recording, making the footage darker than usual. This is camera number 13 that’s given up on me! I tried to brighten the scenes in editing and hope you still enjoy watching the family together. So another camcorder bites the dust. They're not made to last, but what is these days🙄.
I did have a spare in the car but as the car wasn't close, I would have missed all the action. Anyway...
It was great to see Jazz, Sprout, Djimat, and the two boys all close together. Look at Joe lifting that massive ice block — even as a baby, his strength is impressive. Dad Djimat shares some ice with cheeky Jim, who tries to snatch it but isn’t quite successful.
Joe swings in at the window, and Sprout shares some ice with him. Then Joe tries again, swinging into his mum and grabbing her hair— but Sprout lets go without fuss.

ℹ️ In case you're wondering why they were inside and not outside to enjoy the ice in the gorgeous weather. There was an air show in the region and the keepers decided to be on the safe side they keep the family indoors, until the flying display was over.
