The ongoing conflict in the Middle East could have serious consequences for India. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has warned the government about the possible economic and energy impact of the war.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi said that if there is any disruption or closure of the Strait of Hormuz, it could significantly affect India’s energy supply and economy, as a major portion of global oil trade passes through this crucial route.

He also warned that if the war continues for a long time, the impact on global energy markets and India’s economy could become more severe.

Responding to these concerns, Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri assured that despite the ongoing conflict, India’s oil supply and cooking gas availability remain stable. He added that priority is being given to essential sectors like hospitals and educational institutions.
