Declaring SB 248 “unjust, unacceptable and immoral”, a group of South Bend area community leaders held a press conference in opposition to the “hostile corporate takeover” of the South Bend Community School Corporation (SBCSC).
Senate Bill 248, introduced by State Sen. Linda Rogers (R-11th), proposes to overturn the current elected leadership of the SBCSC, replacing it with an advisory board appointed by Gov. Mike Braun’s Secretary of Education. The bill also singles out the SBCSC as the only school district in Indiana to be impacted by these changes.
