A powerful sandstorm swept through tent camps in southern and central Gaza on Saturday (March 14), destroying makeshift shelters and sending personal belongings flying.
Thousands of displaced Palestinians in Khan Younis and Gaza City were left struggling to secure their homes, with sand burying essential items such as mattresses, blankets, and basic supplies. Makeshift bathrooms and tents were torn apart by the strong winds.
Resident Mouhamed Abu Harbid said, “Every time a wave of wind comes, the tents fall down,” highlighting the fragile conditions facing families already displaced by conflict.
While Israeli attacks in Gaza initially declined during the U.S.-Israel strikes on Iran, violence has resumed, with 23 deaths reported in Gaza since February 28. U.S. President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan has been put on hold amid the regional tensions.
