Workers’ Party MP Associate Professor Jamus Lim raised concerns in Parliament on 5 March 2026 over growing tensions surrounding pickleball’s rapid rise in Singapore. Speaking during the sitting, the Sengkang GRC MP noted that while the sport is gaining popularity, residents have complained about limited court access and noise from games played in shared spaces.
Lim proposed converting underutilised upper floors of multi-storey HDB car parks into pickleball courts, arguing the structures could help contain noise and make better use of empty parking spaces. He also addressed safety and regulatory concerns, while urging authorities to consider alternative uses of such infrastructure to balance the needs of players and residents.
