Exploring the Gulf of Mexico Bathymetry Raster

Описание: The BOEM (Bureau of Ocean Energy Management) has published a high-resolution bathymetry raster dataset for the Gulf of Mexico. The raster has been created by stitching together multiple 3D seismic surveys.

I take you on a tour of some of the amazing sea floor topographic features in the Gulf, including the Florida Escarpment, the Lloyd Ridge, the Mississippi Canyon, and the highly unusual mound and depression topography caused by salt diapirism and salt flows.

Finally, I show the impact of lower sea level in the GoM and speculate on the location of the lost city of Atlantis...
