We’re proud to share a new video highlighting the impact of Global Detroit’s Global Entrepreneur in Residence (Global EIR) program. In the feature, Program Manager Andrew Johnson explains how we connect immigrant founders with startup capital, industry expertise, and university placements, creating pathways for them to launch and grow their businesses in Michigan.
The story includes Shiva Sundaram, Global EIR founder, GVSU School of Engineering Visiting Faculty, and founder of USAMR Robotics, a Michigan-based robotics company specializing in autonomous mobile robot solutions. Originally from India, Shiva shares how Global Detroit helped him bring his vision to life in the U.S.
We also hear from Omar Cuevas, Senior VP of Investor and Corporate Relations at the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce, on how Global Detroit’s work strengthens Michigan’s talent pipeline, supports our universities, and positions our state to compete on a global scale.
