As she stepped into the staff room, she paused.

Her sister was nearly invisible—buried beneath a small mountain of books, loose papers scattered everywhere.

“Ouu~ Mei Jr.~ lend your Onee a hand, would you~?”

A hand slowly pushed a book aside.

“Help yourself.”

“So cold~” Mei whined, dramatically reaching upward from under the pile.

Mako crossed her arms.

“What are you even doing?”

Mei finally managed to sit up, several books sliding off her shoulders.

“Ahh~ this? Just a little theory on the Concept Framework , you see. If someone fully understands and completes it… they could manifest anything~!”

Mako stared at her.

“ Anything? ”
A sigh. “That sounds way too convenient to be real.”

Mei puffed out her cheeks.

“Hey~ don’t underestimate your Onee. I’ve been doing great lately, you know? I handled that entire Faction on my own. Every last one of them.”

She leaned back smugly.

“And they couldn’t even retaliate properly~”

Mako raised an eyebrow.

“You call burying yourself in paperwork ‘doing great’?”

Mei froze for a second, then grinned.

“Research is power~! Besides, if this theory works, I won’t need paperwork at all.”

Mako shook her head, though the corner of her mouth twitched slightly.

“You’re impossible.”

Mei beamed.

“And yet, you’re still here helping me, aren’t you~?”
