Steel fabrication technology is at the core of FICEP’s innovative vision, and thermal cutting of structural steel profiles is a prime example of advanced automation in modern steel processing.
NOZOMI is FICEP’s automatic 9-axis CNC Oxy + Plasma thermal coping robot, designed for high-performance cutting, coping, and marking of structural shapes and hollow sections. The 9-axis configuration enables access to the underside of profiles and ensures optimized cutting paths, reducing cut-to-cut time and maximizing throughput.
The system is equipped with a laser scanner that simultaneously probes all three sides of the profile, providing fast and highly accurate acquisition of the actual material geometry.
Thanks to its automatic bi-fuel oxy-fuel and plasma torch changer, NOZOMI delivers maximum flexibility with minimal setup time. The oxy-fuel torch allows processing of high thickness materials and special applications, while advanced automation minimizes manual intervention and improves overall efficiency.
Bolt-quality holes are produced using Hypertherm True Hole technology, which virtually eliminates plasma cut taper, making thermal cutting of bolt holes a reliable solution for many structural applications.
Additionally, the plasma torch enables marking operations, including part identification, layout references, detail orientation, and weld symbols— all within the same thermal processing cell.
NOZOMI also features a preloaded library of over 400 cutting macros, covering a wide range of applications for industrial steel fabrication and structural processing.
