Offered at our Barrie campus, these programs combine rigorous academic instruction with hands-on, real-world experience, preparing you for a dynamic career in various engineering and environmental sectors. Learn in state-of-the-art facilities, such as the Peter B. Moore Advanced Technology Centre and other facilities spread across campus.
Electrical Engineering Technology
This three-year Ontario College Advanced Diploma prepares students for electrical and electronics engineering roles. Through theory-based instruction and hands-on lab work, students gain real-world skills in;
1. Designing, testing and maintaining electrical and electronic systems.
2. Working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), motors, and drives.
3. Power systems analysis and industrial control applications.
4. Reading and interpreting schematics and engineering documentation.
Graduates are prepared for roles in power generation, automation, robotics, and energy distribution, and may pursue certifications through the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT).
Mechanical Engineering Technology
This three-year Ontario College Advanced Diploma provides the foundations to become a mechanical engineering technologist. Students gain real-world skills in;
1. Creating and analyzing mechanical systems using CAD and simulation software.
2. Understand thermodynamics, hydraulics, and manufacturing processes.
3. Apply quality control and design for manufacturability techniques.
4. Build and troubleshoot mechanical prototypes and assemblies.
Graduates can pursue careers in product design, manufacturing, automotive and energy sectors, or further certification through the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT).
Environmental Technician
This two-year Ontario College Diploma is designed for those passionate about environmental stewardship and sustainability. Students gain real-world experience in;
1. Water and wastewater treatment.
2. Environmental sampling, monitoring and laboratory analysis.
3. Soil and air quality testing and remediation techniques.
4. Environmental laws, policies and compliance reporting.
Graduates can find work with conservation authorities, environmental consulting firms, municipalities and government agencies.
Civil Engineering Technician
This two-year Ontario College Diploma prepares students to work in the construction and infrastructure sectors. Students gain hands-on, real-world experience in;
1. Reading blueprints and interpreting civil engineering drawings.
2. Conduct land surveying and materials testing.
3. Design municipal systems (ie. water, sewer and roads).
4. Assist in project estimations, tenderings, and site inspections.
Graduates are well-suited for employment in construction companies, public works departments and consulting or engineering firms.
Architectural Technician
This two-year Ontario College Diploma is ideal for students interested in architecture and design. Students gain hands-on, real-world experience with;
1. Architectural drawings and computer-aided designs (CAD).
2. Building codes, materials and construction practices.
3. Sustainable design and passive energy principles.
4. 3D modelling and project documentation.
Graduates may work in architectural firms, homebuilders or interior design companies, or may continue into advanced architectural studies.
Power Engineering Technology
This three-year Ontario College Advanced Diploma prepares students for roles in power plants, processing facilities and energy systems. Students gain hands-on, real-world experience with;
1. High and low-pressure boiler systems.
2. Steam turbines and auxiliary plant equipment.
3. Electrical generation and thermodynamics.
4. Applied instrumentation and maintenance procedures.
Graduates will meet the academic requirements to challenge the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) 3rd and 4th Class Operating Engineer certifications.
Peter B. Moore Advanced Technology Centre & Centre for Engineering Technologies.
All programs benefit from access to these cutting-edge facilities at the Barrie campus. Students will receive hands-on training using;
