Imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan's party Pakistan-Tehreek-e-Insaf called off their high-stakes protest after an overnight crackdown. Thousands of Imran Khan supporters had entered Islamabad's red zone, where the country's most important offices and buildings, including the parliament are housed. Pakistani security forces launched an overnight crackdown on the protesters in an attempt to vacate the high-security zone. At least six were reported killed in a separate incident where police clashed with protesters in the Pakistani capital. Meanwhile, in a message from the prison, Pakistan’s former prime minister Imran Khan on (Tuesday) November 26 evening asked his supporters who camped in Islamabad to "fight till the last ball and do not retreat". Khan said that his supporters are "boldly confronting the mafia imposed on our country to demand true freedom and justice." The former cricketer-turned-politician remains incarcerated in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail where since August 2023 in multiple cases.
