पता चला है कि 19 मुकदमों का आरोपी यह हिस्ट्रीशीटर अब जुर्म की दुनिया छोड़ राजनीति में कदम रखने की तैयारी कर रहा था। वारदात से ठीक एक दिन पहले वरुण लुहारी ने अपने फेसबुक पेज (जो उसने 'चौधरी वरुण प्रधान लुहारी' नाम से बनाया था) पर एक पोस्ट डाली थी। इसमें उसने सार्वजनिक रूप से ऐलान किया था कि वह अबकी बार गांव से ग्राम प्रधान का चुनाव लड़ने जा रहा है और उसने अपने दोस्तों व ग्रामीणों से आशीर्वाद मांगा था।

करीब 16 साल पहले एलएलबी (LLB) की पढ़ाई के दौरान अपराध की दुनिया में कदम रखने वाले वरुण लुहारी पर हत्या, जानलेवा हमला, पुलिस मुठभेड़ और गैंगस्टर एक्ट समेत कुल 19 गंभीर मामले दर्ज थे। वह अपनी इस खूंखार छवि को बदलकर गांव की सत्ता संभालने का ख्वाब देख रहा था, लेकिन किस्मत को कुछ और ही मंजूर था। चुनावी मैदान में उतरने से पहले ही उसका खूनी अंत हो गया।

Varun Luhari’s criminal history dates back nearly 16 years, beginning when he was an LLB student. Over the years, he accumulated a rap sheet of 19 serious criminal cases, including murder, attempt to murder, gang wars, and the Gangster Act. While he harbored dreams of changing his image through rural politics, his decades-old enmity led to a bloody end before he could even hit the campaign trail.
