Who is Edna DeVries?:
She is currently the Mayor of the Matanuska Susitna Borough in Alaska. She's running for another 4 year term in 2024.
She is a former Mayor of Palmer, Alaska. She's also a former Alaska State Legislator.
Jackie Goforth, her compatriots, and Mayor DeVries are part of the same social and political group.
They work together, with Mayor DeVries using her position to pass legislation, make appointments, and hire/fire employees, while the activists are free to shock and awe, and lie at public meetings to achieve those goals.

Background:
*The activists' constant harassment of libraries, including writing to state legislators & Congressmen to dissuade them from providing grants to the Palmer Library, has allegedly been successful in diverting money to other projects.
*Jackie Goforth and her activist friends jumped on the Moms for Liberty bandwagon to start challenging books at school and public libraries in the MatSu.
*The first public meeting where books are mentioned in the valley was Palmer City Council on February 14, 2023, brought up by Cindy Hudgins.
*The roof collapsed on the Palmer Public Library the next day, February 15, 2023.
*Since that time activists have been present at nearly every city council, borough assembly, school board, library board, and other public meetings to protest books, which is their right.
*The activists consistently lie, refuse to follow policies, and slander librarians and library supporters.
*The group brags about using fake social media profiles to intensify their attacks. They not only want to censor books, but change policies & procedures, arrest librarians, and fire/replace anyone they deem uncooperative.
*Jackie and others in the small activist group have done this for years to other entities and individuals they target for various reasons.

Location:
The Matanuska Susitna Borough (MatSu or MSB) is about 45 minutes north of Anchorage, Alaska. The borough, equivalent to a county in other states, is roughly the size of the state of West Virginia. There are 7 public libraries. Wasilla Library is owned and operated by the City of Wasilla. Palmer Library is owned and operated by the City of Palmer. Trapper Creek, Talkeetna, Willow, Big Lake, and Sutton libraries are owned and operated by the Matanuska Susitna Borough.
