Everybody knows that physical fitness has always been important for firefighters. But how did firefighters keep fit sixty-five years ago, before today's advanced fitness technology?
They did it the old-fashioned way, if this footage from August 1952 is any indication: By lifting things and climbing things and doing push-ups and fiendish-looking variations of push-ups and lots of gymnastics.
All this without a fire -- or a fundraising calendar -- in sight.
