"LAST DOMINION" is a new entry in my ongoing PSX series — a collection of records inspired by 90s and Y2K atmospheric drum and bass, ambient jungle, early liquid DnB, PlayStation 1-2 music, and the feeling of fictional video game soundtracks I grew up imagining. With each release in this series, I try to build a world that feels like it could have existed on a worn PS1 disc, humming softly inside a silver console at 2AM.
In this imagined game, you pilot a classified prototype mecha known only as LAST DOMINION. It is a third-person 3D action title with that unmistakable low-poly PS1 aesthetic: fog-drenched horizons, chunky silhouettes, metallic skies painted in gradients. The mission is simple on paper but heavy in implication — reclaim a chain of abandoned planetary defense citadels after contact with central command was lost. The structures float above an oceanic supercontinent, tethered to the surface by colossal pylons, their systems running on forgotten directives.
Each level pushes you deeper into the mystery. You boost across flooded landing platforms reflecting violet sunsets, descend into geothermal shafts lit by warning strobes, and traverse suspended transit rails over endless cloud seas. There are strange natural wonders too: bioluminescent algae blooming across steel hulls, crystalline storms that freeze radar mid-scan, gravity distortions that bend missile trails into spirals. Corrupted maintenance drones swarm in broken formations. Defense turrets misidentify you as hostile. In later stages, you uncover classified government experiments — autonomous dominion protocols that decided humanity was the variable to be removed. LAST DOMINION moves with heavy grace: dash thrusters flare, hydraulic joints hiss, and each step leaves ripples in shallow water as you lock on, strafe, and carve a path through the ruins.
The production of the album is mainly centered around textures, one-shots and breaks coming from 90s sample CDs, together with selected samples, chops, melodic flips and atmospheric manipulations of PSX soundtracks.
Best enjoyed while watching distant city lights from a rooftop at night, but also just while taking a quiet train ride home with your headphones on.
Thank you for being here and for giving this project your time. I am genuinely grateful that these strange little worlds get to exist because you listen. I am working every day to become good enough for all of this, and I really hope you like this record.
Much Love,
MICROMECHA-EVOLVED
