EL CENTRO — On a crisp evening under the bright lights of Cal Jones Field, the sounds of trumpets, drums and cheering fans filled the air as high school marching bands from across the Imperial Valley came together for an annual Halftime Festival.
“This isn’t about competition like a football game,” said Patrick Yanni, band director for Central Union High School and host of the Imperial Valley Music Educators Association event on Tuesday, Nov. 12. “It’s more of a showcase — our night to just show what we do.”
