Naked Blues
I have been making home recordings for years and there are now thousands of recordings. Sometimes a few licks, sometimes a long solo, occasionally structured 12 bar blues solos, sometimes a melodic solo.
Often it was just an acoustic harmonica,
also regularly played along with a backing track and sometimes played/recorded through an amplifier.
I think this recording shows what I often do unconsciously.
I actually enjoy nothing more than performing live with a band, but when I'm at home it's usually this: a quiet slow blues and an acoustically recorded harmonica.
I deliberately use almost no hand cupping in order to hear and feel the pure, naked harmonica sound.
My timing, groove and choice of notes then come completely spontaneously and I always only record a take once. I leave any mistakes (read: a less good note/sound for me) because that is part of it.
I dare say this is my blues, my music.
