India to Produce HAMMER Precision Weapon System | Defence Upgrades | NEXT IAS

Описание: India is set to manufacture the HAMMER air-to-ground precision weapon system after Bharat Electronics Limited signed a production agreement with Safran Electronics & Defence. The HAMMER, originally developed in France, is a modular glide bomb capable of striking targets up to 70 km away with high accuracy. It can be integrated with 250 kg, 500 kg, and 1,000 kg bombs and launched from low altitudes, even in difficult terrain. Its resistance to jamming and ability to destroy fortified structures make it highly effective in modern warfare. Compatible with fighter jets like Rafale and LCA Tejas, this technology marks a strategic boost in India’s defense manufacturing and self-reliance under Make in India.
