In early August 2025, engineers at NASA successfully deployed the Roman Space Telescope’s solar panels and visor-like sunshade under simulated space conditions. Each of the four panels unfurled smoothly, ensuring Roman will have the power it needs to search the universe in infrared light.
This critical test is a major step toward launch, currently planned for no later than May 2027—and possibly as early as late 2026. Once in orbit, Roman will explore dark energy, dark matter, exoplanets, and the formation of galaxies, giving us a new window into the cosmos.

🌌 A Cold Giant With a Chaotic Past – Meet 14 Herculis c! 🌌
In one of the most bizarre and misaligned planetary systems ever discovered, NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope has directly imaged an icy giant planet that’s rewriting the rules of planetary science. Orbiting a star just 60 light-years away in the constellation Hercules, 14 Herculis c is a frigid world—colder than your freezer at just 26°F—yet it holds clues to a violent past that may have ejected a third planet entirely!
