Something always bothered me about Naruto, and it was something I so gladly could have gone without noticing until someone pointed it out to me. Naruto is kind of a hypocrite. Way back, ages ago, when Naruto and Neji first met, there was a conversation between the two about the nature of hard work versus natural tallent. And during that time, Naruto affirmed that anyone could become a great Shinobi, even those who weren’t born naturally skilled, like Naruto himself. The idea that you didn’t need any gifts to surpass everyone else, but only the determination to do so, was an inspiring message. However, the worst person in the world was chosen to deliver it, because Naruto himself is far from basic. Bro is literally the reincarnated son of the Sage of Six Paths, the same son who BECAME the next Sage of Six Paths. He’s further the reincarnation of the most busted Shinobi in History who was literally born with a Kekkei Genkai so rare that nobody + Moegi (somehow) has it. And let’s not forget the Starfish+ level regeneration. And if these reincarnation blessings weren’t enough, even as he spoke to Neji, he was the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki, the vessel of the most powerful Tailed Beast of all outside the Ten-Tails, and it’s not even close. For real, who is Naruto to act like he’s not naturally gifted? His whole birth is rolling a nat 20 on three different dice. It’s ludicrous and completely invalidates Naruto’s victory over Neji in the Chunin Exams. But enough about that. I want to make a world where Naruto isn’t special. Where Naruto is normal and everything he is is left up to chance. That’s why I’ve decided to get out my random generators and stuff all of Naruto’s resources, from his family dynamic to his selection of natural skills inside just to give the wheel a big spin and see what our Gutsy Ninja will ACTUALLY be if fate were as fair to him as it is to anyone else. So strap right in and grab your lucky dice of fate, let’s make Naruto normal.
