Will Wilson, conservation photographer, storyteller and avi birder, shares with us his deep love for Conservation through his work along @gorilladoctors in DRC (Virunga NP's mountain gorillas, Kahuzi-Biega with Grauer's Gorillas), Rwanda (Nyungwe NP) and Uganda. He also did work with @africanparksnetwork, the Rwandan Development Board, and is now very active with the NGO Sea Sense, protecting sea turtles along the Tanzanian coast.
We discussed the importance of photography when identifying great apes for research purposes, the dedication of wildlife vets such as Dr. Lina Nturubika in Congo, and of course the extensive knowledge of local staff such as rangers in Nyungwe or trackers among the Batwa in Central Africa to mention just a few.
The work of Sea Sense in Tanzania is not only focused on the turtles themselves, but also on the communities who live on the coast line, helping them better cope with an ever-changing climate and harsh economic conditions.
