Season 9 of Selling Sunset was a nightmare to watch for many Black women as we watched Chelsea Lazkani battle against the racist mistreatment leveled at her by her coworkers, Mary and Bre. It was a story that was all too familiar for those of us who have had to wage similar battles in our own workplaces. This video essay details the long history of the racism that Chelsea has had to navigate, why it relates to so many Black women, and how it came to a particularly insidious head in Season 9 of the show.
