Debe su nombre a José Figueroa Alcorta, el único argentino que tuvo el honor de ejercer la titularidad de los tres poderes del estado: fue diputado nacional, en 1891 y 1895; vicepresidente de la Nación —por ende, presidente del Senado— entre 1904 y 1906, presidente de la Nación Argentina entre ese año y 1910, y juez de la Corte Suprema de Justicia de la Nación, a partir de 1915, siendo su presidente desde 1929 hasta su fallecimiento en 1931.
It owes its name to José Figueroa Alcorta, the only Argentine who had the honor of exercising ownership of the three powers of the state: he was a national deputy, in 1891 and 1895; Vice President of the Nation —hence, President of the Senate— between 1904 and 1906, President of the Argentine Nation between that year and 1910, and judge of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, from 1915, being its president since 1929 until his death in 1931.
