Volta Homes has won approval from Ann Arbor to build an eco-friendly, 24-bedroom apartment building at 530 N. Division St. that developer Doug Selby, a former chemist who once worked in cancer research at the University of Michigan, promises will be "legitimately one of the world’s most sustainable buildings." With efficient design and an extensive array of solar panels, The Bridge is expected to produce all of its own energy onsite without burning fossil fuels and is designed to meet Living Building Challenge, Passive House and LEED Platinum standards. Selby is approaching the project with the climate crisis in mind.
