No word of a lie, the first time I listened to this album was while driving to Belfast a couple of weeks ago, and low and behold “in my head” I started to dance Irish percussive steps to the rhythm of the music. I have always loved a “3 in the bar timing” and played the track on repeat for the 30 minute drive. I was listening and counting the phrases, working out how many steps I would need to fit the recording. I couldn’t wait to dance my vision.
This video is the result – 😊
Around the world in music & dance, from Brittany to Ireland to Boston, Massachusetts.
The track is for a Breton dance called a "Ridée Six Temps" from a FAB Breton group called Fahrenheit, the album is called “Un Monde Sans Bruit” – check them out here: https://fahrenheit.live
The Dance is a series of steps from:
• May Allen of Co Antrim – read more about May here:

• Dan Furey of Co Clare – read more about Dan here:

• Jackie O’Riley & Rebecca McGown of Boston - they created the last dance, originally to a hop jig called the Silver Slipper. They jointly created this piece of new choreography in a traditional style, and are reknowned for their inivative visual album of dance – here is a link for more info, it is a stunning piece of work: https://www.fromthefloordance.com
A little bit of artistic license was used to fit the steps to the music - 😊 - also, the initial steps are from a slip jig traditionally danced in soft shoe, and my hard soles demanded I add some extra tips here and there.
I never met May or Dan; and I am happy to say that I am friends with both Jackie & Rebecca, sharing our love of dance and steps too! I wonder what they will think of the Breton track!
You also might like to know that I know one of the band members, Simon McDonnell, he attended my dance workshops last summer at a trad Irish festival in Tocane in the Dordogne, France. He is very curious to learn how to move to music, given he loves to play for dancers so much. I have a vivid memory of his beautiful spoken French while easily switching into English – with a strong Kilkenny accent! Learning his words and accent from his dad Michael – also at the fest, and keeping us in craic.

A wonderful Irish festival in glorious sunshine - 🤣
See you on a dance floor soon, remember - I took my first Irish percussive dance - at the age of 40!
NEVER too late!

There are some free downloads in the shop tap too - audio tracks/piano arrangements, as well as a new series of dance specific tunes, melody only.
Cheers, Annette
PS if you are curious about the flooring, I found the piece of wood in a skip, and called my brother to come and help me carry it home!
